Q1. How and when did you start your Entrepreneur Journey to serve into Wedding industry? What did inspire you to start your own business?
Well I have been a Wedding Anchor for more than eight years and have hosted more than 200 shows in India and abroad. But this year I have revived it with more JOSH and fervour, now that things will hopefully come back to what we see as NORMAL!
Q2. Kindly describe more about your business, your role, products/services.
My business is fairly simple to understand. I love people! Talking to them, interacting with them, entertaining them. And I also love to get into the imagery that the client represents.
So whether it is a Corporate Brand Launch where I am formal and protocol-led, or a crazy teenage party where I am younger in outlook, more breezy and fun, or a wedding party where there are all ages of audience and there is lot of warmth, family love and celebration in the air, and I am vivacious and cheerful and looking out to involve maximum family members in the participation, I enjoy it all!
And I also do a ton of pre-event prep so I have all the information needed to make the event a success.
Q3. Please share about unique feature/speciality/USP of your Product/Service.
The USP is that I can mould myself into all sort of events, like earlier explained. SONIKA CHOPRA, THE HI-ENERGY VERSATILE ANCHOR! That's how I think I would like to be known and that can be your headline for me as well!
Q4. How would you explain the importance of your role into a Wedding?
Weddings are a chaotic event especially in India, or rather, Indian weddings! Amidst all that chaos how to stay centred, focused, professional, and still create enjoyable entertainment is my goal always!
I like to be seen as a high-energy person so that there is a marked difference between BEFORE SONIKA STARTED THE EVENT and after! I love to give due importance to all the important people at a wedding. It is ABUNDANTLY clear that people spend time effort energy money to come to a wedding only because someone in the core family is important to them. I like to therefore make as many people at an event, feel important, and to give them their due, to make their trip feel worth it.
Q5. What are the most common challenges you face at the wedding you are handling?
There is ALWAYS last minute chaos! There are ALWAYS last minute changes! The agenda for the event can undergo last-second changes and I have to be able to continue to do my job without giving even a hint that anything has changed!
I am absolutely cool! Experience has taught me to have presence of mind, to be able to think on my feet, to keep a happy demeanour and smiling face through it all, to make the client feel good about how the event is progressing, I put in my best and leave the rest to god! I also pray for everyone before the event and send out positive energies and vibes to the event venue, the event planners, the audience etc so I am totally calm always.
Q7. Could you share one of your most unique creation/experience for/of a wedding?
I once danced on a bar table along with an NRI bride and groom at their sangeet which was COMPLETELY impromptu and so fun!
Q8. What type of collaborations would you like to explore in future?
I would like to work with the TOP EVENT MANAGEMENT COMPANIES in India as soon as possible! I would like to represent my nation at international world events! I would like to conduct international level interviews!
Q9. What is your vision for next five years?
To dominate the world stage in my industry!
Q10. What would you advise new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in the business?
Stay focused. Work hard every single day. Keep your physical mental emotional wellness at top priority. Network! Never stop improving your craft: diction, dressing up, learn new languages, become an overall entertainer!
